For the very first episode back in a while, and to start off this season, we went on a deep dive into the time old tradition of coopering with Killian O'Mahony, Cooper from Midleton Distillery, Co. Cork. Killian talked about everything from growing up in Blarney, his love of woodwork and working with his hands, to becoming the first Cooper hired in Midleton in over 40 years. From there, to learn his trade he traveled to Scotland, Spain, America and came back home to Cork. He also talked about launching Sling Shot Gin in 2018, their The Bridge Series Whiskey, Bart's Irish Whiskey which was their first blended whiskey inspired by their father's love for clocks.
This was an in depth chat about the story of a family owned micro-distillery in a town that is the bridge from East to West of Ireland, a story about collaboration, getting products to market, sustainability in the form of innovative bottling technology, future plans for the distillery and so much more.
